  1. Hello, Now that we have finished our oral presentations about all those great authors, It´s time to vote which one is the best.

So my vote goes to Marc Brown.

I consider him as one of my favorite ones because he is not only a writer, he also illustrates children´s books so that he is a multitasking person, furthermore he is the author of the Arthur book series, whose TV series, which I used to watch almost every day when I was a child, has won three Emmys and its opening song is really catchy. These are the reasons why I consider him as one of the best authors of children’s literature in English.

I hope to know the results of the voting as soon as possible to know my partner´s opinions.

  2. It was a complicated task because there were lots of amazing writers, but finally we, Azucena, Cristina and Rocío, The Brown team, have chosen Beatrix Potter as the winner in best Literature Authors’ Contest. There are plenty of reasons that make her be our number one:

Firstly, we liked that she was really engaged with nature and she tried to show her love to the environment in her books through the use of animals as main characters.

Secondly, we loved the dedication she gave to her works for creating real and worthy educative Literature for children: she tried to adapt every book to children, with small size to handle it and big letters to make it easily readable. This is even more impresive if we highlight the fact that without going to the school she was able to become a magnificent writer.

Finally, and not only focusing on the literary field, she was a woman ahead of her time: she was critic of the artists and politicians of the period of time in which she lived. In a nutshell, taking into account that, at those times, women were not allowed to do many things (for example to publish her discovery of lichens as the symbiotic relationship between fungus and algae) she was a woman who rebelled in her time and worked following her criteria, far from what was expected of her.

We would like to conclude with a quote from this wonderful writer, that we could know thanks to our classmates: “Most people, after one success, are so cringingly afraid of doing less well that they rub all the edge off their subsequent work.”

  3. Hi everyone!

Our vote as a group (Julia´s group) is going to the author Roald Dhal. We consider that he has been able to turn some of his bad experiences in his real life into amazing stories full of fantasy. And the good thing about this is that eventhough, we can think that his stories are just about fantasy, we can find some things that can be related with our lives or just some things we can reflect about.

For that reason we are voting Roald Dhal!

  4. Once we have seen all the presentations we can vote our favourite author. It is a little bit difficult for us to choose only an author because everyone seemed interesting for us. However, due to the fact that we have to decide, our vote (White’s team) finally is going to ERIC CARLE. Some of the reasons that have made us take this decision are:
First of all, we liked that his stories are usually focused on nature because he thinks that not only entertaining is important but also to offer children the opportunity to learn something new about the world around them.
Moreover, his books have plenty of drawings and his art work is created in collage technique. He includes a lot of colourful images in his books in order to catch children’s attention and interest.
Finally, another aspect that really impressed us was that many of his books have an added dimension and also real sounds of animals. In this way he wants to stimulate children’s intellectual growth.
By and large, we consider he could offer a unique artwork for children that can be very interesting and useful for them, and that is the main reason why we have chosen him.

  5. After seing the presentationas we have to say that it is a really hard decision to choose only one of the authors, but finally we have chosen Beatrix Potter, we consider her as one of the most interesting authors (also taking into account our class Beatrix- Sandowal Potter who was really great), in our opinion it is great to show that the literacy is not only man’s job, and we can find lots of female surprises like Beatrix Potter.

Krzysztof Kujawa, Lidia García and Susana Garaboa,

  6. Hi everyone!
Our group is composed by Carla, Nuria and Diego. After our peers presentations about author we have chosen Julia Donalsond as the best children´s literature writer. We have chosen this author principally because the Gruffalo´s story. We like it because it is very motivated to foment creativity, and in our opinion this kind of fantastic stories are perfect to motivate our students to start reading.

We hope to know the results of this voting.

  7. Hello everyone!

Our group, Yessica, Miguel and me, have decided to vote JULIA DONALDSON. The reason of this election is that we consider these books a really good source to develop creativity and imagination.
Moreover we think that Julia’s books are very attractive and catchy for the early readers because some stories of these books are near of the children’s world and they can compare their own feelings of the book’s characters.
Finally we also have to say that we really enjoy the presentation and that our classmates prepare it so well, knowing everything about the author and even the group was not complete they get it forwards.

  8. It seems that having the chance to hear the authoress herself explaining about her work and life made a difference, as our group is voting also Beatrix Potter. She (the real one) made a great job, and the presentation was useful and interesting. Congrats girls!

  9. After being doubting to choose our favourite author because there were great presentations such as ‘Eric Carle, White, etc….’ among others and considering that we only can choose one , we decided at last to nominate to ‘Alan Alexander Milne group’. Why? Wnnie the Pooh and the others characters have became part of our childhood. The stories of this author are funny and enjoyable. As well, apart from its stories, he wrote and gave its opinion about the political-social context of the World War due to the date in which he was born (1882-1956). In stories of Winnie the Pooh we can find some fragments that indirectly talk about the life during the World Wars, a great opportunity to understand the author’s point of view. On the other hand, we liked the video made by our classmates, it was original and catchy.
