On the one hand, I never thought to compare Shrek and the donkey with Quixote and Sancho but because it never came to my mind. Now that you have mentioned they could be similar. I mean, in both cases the characters try to find the “girl”, so they face multiple adventures and take risks. I like how work your mind :P
On the other hand, I also wanted to be a superhero when I was a child. I loved the idea of flying and throwing powerful spells, rescuing people from villains and feeling myself proud and strong. However it was not my idea when we did the activity in class. I decided to be Pocahontas because this character makes me feel self-confident, kindness, intelligence… This character was, I think, the only princess in all Disney’s versions that rejected what she really wanted to carry out her life as she had to. This one could also be another type of super hero, couldn’t be?
I totally agree with you Yessica, your super hero could fit perfectly in nowadays children literacy. In my opinion, nowadays most of us need to feel a super hero very closed, even children need it, due to the closeness they transmit, the problems they pass throw, how they solve them… We can get involved into their daily life, and then we can feel how they cheer us up to “move mountains”.
Greetings Yessica.

I want to start saying that the parallelism between Don Quixote and Sherk is also meaningful for me; I had the same sensation the first time that I saw Sherk.

I have decided comment on your post because I think your idea for the character is amazing. For me, it is important to create references for our students, and if we do it in a super-hero shape it is very motivating. Furthermore, make accessible heroes is a way to show our student that they can achieve their purposes.

Also when I read Jaime´s comment I have realized that the activity also can be useful for student. In my opinion we tend to create heroes to overcome our own problems, and in this way we can create closeness with the student´s reality.

Finally, if you lastly decided to create the story it would be great add it in the blog ;).

Moreover, I consider that due to these connections we can analyze children´s minds and personalities by asking them to repeat the activity of creating a character, or by saying which is their favorite character of a film or a TV series.

In conclusion, my point is that this activity can be used to develop children´s creativity but it is also a good tool for the teacher, because it can be used to know indirectly their pupil´s personalities and even how children may behave with their partners depending of their characters and how their relation is during the story.

I hope you continue writing posts in the blog.

Jaime
