First of all I would like to tell you that I also liked this activity because it has been a good example to show to our future that poetry it´s something that everybody could do if they use the appropriate words.

In my opinion all depends of the way we encourage our students to do poetry and how we presented to them because if we show it as an interesting thing that for example we could do to write a poem to our mum on “Mums day”, probably the will love this activity because they were seeing that them could do poetry and there is no reason to learn it as we did by memorising. Another activity could by the one we did in class of representing the poem with gestures, or even sing it if we are brave.

In relation to this activities we could do others more for example there are some poems that are with questions and answer we could divide the class in to two groups and one did the questions and the other groups the answers or even saying a paragraph each group.

Here you have a very good resource; it is a webpage in which there are lots of poems for children:
http://www.superteacherworksheets.com/poems.html
I think this website is a very good tool because there are poems for different levels.

I hope I help you think out for more activities to do in class moreover you could think on many others.
